Vintage Yellowware Bowl | Hand-Banded Brown Stripe | Small Mixing Bowl 5½ in | Farmhouse Kitchen Decor
There is something about a yellowware bowl that a modern kitchen cannot replicate. The weight of it. The warmth of the clay. The slight irregularity of a band applied by hand rather than machine.
This small yellowware bowl — 5½ inches in diameter, 3 inches high — carries all of that. The banding is a classic three-stripe configuration: one wide brown center band flanked by two narrower brown bands, each sitting slightly raised from the surface — the unmistakable signature of hand application. The clay itself runs darker and warmer than typical yellowware, suggesting age and a kiln working with genuine intention. An embedded maker's mark is present on the base, no longer fully legible but visible. The glaze is intact and the bowl is in excellent condition, with one very small chip at the base — disclosed and photographed.
Use it for mise en place on a French-inspired kitchen counter. Nest it in a collection of ironstone. Set it on a breakfast tray beside a pot of jam. It asks very little and gives back considerably more.
