Vintage Yellowware Mixing Bowl | Three-Band Brown Stripe | Hand-Glazed | 6½ Inch

Vintage Yellowware Mixing Bowl | Three-Band Brown Stripe | Hand-Glazed | 6½ Inch
This bowl has a voice.
The clay is a deep, warm golden yellow — richer and more saturated than most yellowware you will encounter — and the glaze over the hand-applied banding has that particular pooling quality that comes only from a kiln doing exactly what it was meant to do. The three brown bands sit in slight relief: one wide center stripe flanked by two narrower ones, the glaze gathering at the edges in the uneven, slightly bumpy way that no machine has ever replicated.
The base carries an embossed circular maker's mark — more present than most — partially obscured by glaze but clearly intentional. The bottom rim is partially glazed, the glaze running unevenly in the way of pieces made without the precision of modern manufacturing. These are not flaws. They are a record of how it was made and by whose hands.
6½ inches in diameter, 3¼ inches high. Good condition.
Set it on an open kitchen shelf beside ironstone and gathered herbs. Use it as a sugar bowl on a French breakfast tray. Let it hold sea salt on a counter that means something to you. It is a working bowl that has lived long enough to become something more.
