Entertaining Idea’s for a Memorial Day Backyard Gathering

Memorial Day is considered the beginning of summer here in New England. It is when it’s finally warm enough to go outside, and we can barbeque with friends and family after a long winter season. Everyone is excited to breathe the fresh air and gather with loved ones.

When hosting a backyard barbeque, I like to decorate more casually while paying attention to the little things that make a complete design.

A savory charcuterie board is one of my favorite go-to when I want first to serve appetizers. It can encompass so many different foods, and the presentation is both visually delicious and festive to look at.

Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it’s a start.

I made a roasted tomato, ricotta, and basil crostini. I got the recipe from the Food Network. Click the link below or the picture to bring you to the recipe. It is delicious!

I love using little hints of red throughout my design, and I prefer using fewer red colors because it can overwhelm the design quickly. For a patriotic presentation, I will often use primarily blue and white and add hints of red here and there.

Here, I let the tomatoes and strawberries represent the red and added blue and white napkins for a patriotic look and feel.

If your server board is large enough, you can add all your appetizers creating a grazing table. This serving board is giant, and I was able to add some of my crostini to it and meats, cheeses, and crackers.

The little displays of red, white, and blue flags create a more festive Memorial Day celebration. The summer flowers were purchased at my local nursery. The summer

I placed my little arrangements here and there throughout the dining area. The pop of colors using yellow sunflowers and blue hydrangeas bring some color into the space where I am entertaining.

Always keep with your specific theme when designing for any event. Don’t forget the interior of your home. Small arrangements in your kitchen or bathroom are a nice touch.

Happy Memorial Day my friends!

May your home be a place where friends meet, family gathers, and love grows.
