French Inspired Blue and White Tablescape
There is something very soothing about gathering at a table designed using different hues of blue and white. Iโm an avid gardener, and these vintage Spode plates remind me of a French garden.
Flowers always make me a bit more hopeful and joyous, and after a long holiday season, I needed some inspiration that only CAME from blooms.
โTo plant a garden is to believe in tomorrowโ
I paired the blue and white plates with a lovely charger from Juliska. I love using runners with antique linen tablecloths, which bring a splash of color to a formal or casual table. This one has a beautiful array of cream and gray colors that help tie together my color palette and French theme.
This is one of a collection of vintage Spode plates I found at an antique store. I was doing some planning for a tablescape competition charity event and was looking for something unique and special. When I spotted them, I knew I had to have them. Each one in the collection is different from the next. I love that they are mixed and matched but in the same color line. They are formal yet casual in the same design.
I created a FRENCH-THEMED tablescape that ultimately won โMost Beautifulโ out of 36+ EXPERIENCED designers. NO ONE expected a newbie (me) to win such a distinguished honor, BUT I DID, TO MY ASTONISHMENT. I stood there wide-eyed in wonderment and delighted all at the same time.
โThe table is a meeting place, a gathering ground, the source of sustenance and nourishment, festivity, safety, and satisfaction. A person cooking is a person giving: even the simplest food is a gift.

I used different shades of blue, cream, gray, and a pop of pink in the centerpieces.
This is just the sweetest Greek/Roman style female statue head cement planter I found in Flower Magazine. I wanted to use it on my table and decided to place it on my tablescape filled with the same flowers that are found in my centerpiece.
I added other small clear vases filled with roses and carnations and placed them here in there on the table filling up the empty spaces in the center of the table.
I use lighting of all types when designing a tablescape. Here I used small votives and taper candlesticks to add to a more intimate setting.
Using mixed and matched glassware also establishes a more casual look and feel. These French glasses can also be used formally. To find the water glasses see below.
The colors found in the centerpiece give this tablescape a feeling that you were in a spring garden. Itโs calming and feels light and airy.
โWhen you are an avid gardener, flowers are a window to the soul!โ
