Antique French Confit Pot — Rare Blue and Green Glaze | 19th Century French Earthenware

Antique French Confit Pot — Rare Blue and Green Glaze | 19th Century French Earthenware
A rare antique French confit pot in deep cobalt blue with a sweep of green glaze — hand thrown from South West French terracotta in the 19th century. Blue glazed confit pots of this period are exceptionally rare. Most are yellow, brown, or green alone. This cobalt is the color of a Provençal sky, of deep summer hydrangeas, of the sea off the Brittany coast on a clear morning.
Each chip and mark is evidence of the hands that held it before yours — and the life it lived in a French farmhouse kitchen long before it found its way here. Place it on a kitchen island, a fireplace mantel, or a side table and fill it with whatever the garden offers. It will be the most beautiful thing in the room.
Good vintage condition appropriate to its age. Wear and patina consistent with 19th-century earthenware. For additional photographs, dimensions, or a video, don't hesitate to contact Mary directly.
Simply extraordinary. I have been collecting antique French confit pots for years, and blue-glazed examples of this quality and depth are exceptionally rare. This one stopped me the moment I saw it. The cobalt with the green drip is the color of a summer garden — and it holds hydrangeas as though it were made for exactly that purpose. I considered keeping it. But beautiful objects deserve to be seen and loved. — Mary
