Creating a Springtime Tablescape

Creating this springtime tablescape was one of my favorite design projects. There is nothing better than using fragrant hyacinths, daffodils and tulips to wake up the senses after a long winter.
The best part of it all is that the colors are amazing. You can pair these blooms with a pure white place setting and they will look spectacular! Just let the colors be your guide.
Whether vintage or modern, beautiful linen napkins can be so elegant when used in a table setting. The use of cascading napkins leaves room on each of your place settings for additional enhancements you may want to add to your plate.

This tablescape was created for a dinner I hosted right before Easter. I added just a few elements like bird nests and candy eggs just to be a bit festive.
Each place setting had a special gift for each guest. It is something I have always done to make my guests feel welcomed and appreciated.
Here are just a few tips on how I created this table design.
On each place setting, I picked out delicate deep pink flowers and wrapped them in green satin ribbon. I then placed them on the side of each plate to give additional color to my table design. The same flower was also in each of the floral centerpieces that I created the day before. This created a more cohesive look to the entire design.
I selected the light green ribbon because it is the same color as some of the flowers and greenery used in the floral centerpieces.
The single piece of candy in the middle of the each plate make the tablescape appear a bit more modern, at least to me. The same candy filled three bird nests, each placed in different areas of the tablescape. I love to leave a treat on each plate for my guest.
Floral Decor
Additional details included spots of gold and pink throughout the table. I selected gold vases for the flower arrangements, candle holders, chargers and each plate had pretty gold details around the edge of the plate.
The different hues of pink from the centerpieces are also seen in the candy, flowers on each plate and the tablecloth delicately embroidered with soft pink peonies.
each guest had a special gift when seated at the table, welcoming them to my dinner. My youngest guest is 7 years old and her special bunny plate went home with her along with her carefully curated Easter basket.

Creating a beautiful cohesive tablescape design can be easy if you use just a few guiding principles.
The use of a theme is always helpful because it keeps your ideas relating to one topic. My theme is “Springtime Blooms”.
Use a few color combinations and different textures throughout the table design to create interest. I first selected different hues of pink, gold and green and used them throughout my table design. For texture, I used three different tablecloths and layered them on top of one another crisscrossing them. The outer layer was a beautiful sheer embroidered silk that created a shimmery glow.
The ultimate goal in creating a beautiful table design is to make it your own. Use your imagination and don’t be afraid to get creative. Use what you have in your house and trust yourself. If you love it, your guests will too. Be authentic to your own personal style and have fun!
